Blog for Your Breasts Day — Write Pink!

There were never any words — black ink pressed against an off-white page — that told her story.

And though she was only one, she was one among millions of other women who lost the breast cancer battle and whose story was never told.

Today we pledge to tell her story. Today, we Write Pink: from the Head, Heart and Feet.

During the month of October, we at Bigger Picture Blogs are writing stories. Stories of survival and of loss. Stories of education, support, and prevention. Stories for mothers and daughters, sisters and wives, friends and grandmothers, aunts and nieces.

We’re writing Pink for every person who has known breast cancer too well. And we’re writing pink in hopes that no one will ever have to write pink for you.

“We need to go beyond a cure. We need to stop people from ever getting breast cancer in the first place.”
— DR. SUSAN LOVE

Please join Bigger Picture Blogs today as we kick off Write Pink! from the Head, Heart and Feet by teaming up with Army of Women and bloggers everywhere to Blog for our Breasts.

With something as huge as this, it’s easy to feel lost. To feel as if there is nothing you can do that will truly make a difference. But there is, and we can: you can be one of a million. One of a million women who will pledge to help find a cure, in our lifetime.

Army of Women is a non-profit organization run by a grant from the Avon Foundation for Women. They connect breast cancer researchers via the internet with people who are willing to participate in a wide variety of research studies aimed at determining the causes of breast cancer and how to prevent it. The goal of Army of Women is to recruit ONE MILLION MEN AND WOMEN of all ages (over 18) and ethnicities to help further their research.

By signing up with Army of Women you will be added to the database to be notified about research projects which need volunteers. You will not be registered for any certain project, you’ll just receive information you can use to decide if you have the time and ability needed to help. All research done through the Army of Women is prevention based — there are no clinical trials and there is no cost to join. Some current studies are looking into sleep and stress, some are genetic based; they are even researching the possibility of diagnosing breast cancer and breast cancer risk from breast milk.

But they need you to make it to One Million — to change the future so our daughters will only know pink as the color that princesses wear, not the color of a survivors head scarf.

By dedicating your blog post to today to Army of Women’s Blog For Your Breasts Campaign, by sharing your voice, we want to reward you! Link your post at one (or all) of our Bigger Picture Blogs (Undercover Mother, Peanut Butter In My Hair, This Heavenly Life) today and you will be entered to win this:

Help us spread your stories far and wide by posting the Write Pink! button on your blog and checking back here throughout October as our community members share their stories. Every Thursday we will be prompting you to find the Bigger Picture within that week’s chosen topic of either Education, Prevention, Support, or Survival. To reward you for sharing your personal stories, some fabulous sponsors have generously offered to provide giveaways each week. (Be sure to check out their buttons on our sidebar!)

Please join us this month by Writing Pink. The more stories, the more voices, the stronger our fight against Breast Cancer will be. Together our voices can raise up and reach out to other women and provide them with the information and support they need.

Together we can make a difference.
Together we can be can be One Million strong!
