Bigger Picture Moments: Featuring {Danielle}

Every Thursday, we come together to share the harvest of intentional living by capturing a glimpse of the Bigger Picture through a simple moment. And this month, February, we’re adding a little twist — LOVE.  Won’t you join us?  Reflect upon something simple but lovely: a memory, a proposal, a falling, a feeling, a connection.

Let’s show LOVE this February in our Bigger Picture Moments!

Here’s a glimpse at one of our favorites from last week, shared by Danielle at Sugar and Snails.  Click over to read the rest!

There was an epic diaper blowout in the morning and vomit at the dinner table.

And in between, I felt a tender moment.

It happened somewhere between my efforts at feeling like a confident mother as I strolled my slightly feverish 2-year-old (wearing only a shirt and diaper) through errands and fending off dry heaves while being sprinkled with spit-up.

Oh, right, the moment. It was this:

I got to hold my baby, who really isn’t one anymore, while he sank into my shoulder, grew heavy and fell asleep.

This week’s link-up is being hosted by Alita.  Please head over to share your moment and encourage others as we express our lives in the simplicty — the complex simplicity — of an everyday moment.

We can’t WAIT to discover your moments!

Looking Back, January

We haven’t seen much of that this winter,  it’s both nice and weird. We’re enjoying the nice weather but it feels a little surreal and being from Chicago I’m kind of skeptical and waiting for the proverbial “other shoe” (weather wise) to drop. Hopefully we don’t get snow in June!

January may not have had snow but it was busting at the seams with creativity and writing from both our community and our writers, let’s look back at some of the bits you may have missed.

Instagrid doesn't tell me whose this is 😦

We finished up the most recent round of our Writing Me project, In This Family Prose. If you missed any of them check out the recap of everyone who joined in.  Be sure to watch this Tuesday for our newest prompt!

We brought back Bigger Picture Captures (BPCaptures) with an emphasis on Instagram for quick and easy bursts of creativity during the day.  Alita curates the captures and can I just say you guys have really been bringing the creativity!

“I have learned that, in fact, there is *some* bit of pride I will not swallow for the sake of family harmony. Don’t want to hear me? Fine. Close your ears all the live long day and we will be fine. But don’t silence me, pretending that silence is the band-aid to fix the wound, when all it does is hide it from view.” Jade Keller, Tasting Grace

My sweet songbird,
chubby cheeks and running nose
giggling and laughing,
there was never any music more made
for my ears. Hyacynth, Undercover Mother

They walked together along the beach hand in hand under the full moon. Her high heels slung over her shoulder in a nonchalant way. Then he stopped, turned to her and sighed. “I love you,” he said. She smiled and blushed then leaned in for a long kiss. It felt like she had awoken from a nap, refreshed and reborn. This is true love she thought. Brooke, Redhead Reverie
