Coffee Date: Patty Ann of Pitterle Postings

Patty Ann has a deep love that runs in her veins. She has love for God, community, and adversity. She smiles in the face of adversity, as a matter of fact. The Lord blessed her with the ultimate job of raising 11 children. She has more than enough love in her heart to go around, and does so with kindness as well as humility. She holds firm in her conviction that people are worth effort in saving. Works of generosity, in spirit as well as other blessings through the Grace of God help her to lift others burdens as well as her own family’s trials and tribulations. She is a woman of character, perseverance, and yes even repentance. In getting to know Patty Ann, we have learned that she is a writer with great love. And it shines for everyone to see.

Patty and her husband John put down roots in Arizona, and they still share their nest with a couple of beautiful daughters.

What Bigger Picture Blogs means to Patty:

I don’t remember how I found Bigger Picture Blogs.  I only know that I found it earlier this past year and it spoke to my heart.  I love the writing of all my sisters there!  Discovering a community of women who write about the things that have meaning in my own life as been simply wonderful.

For me, reading and sharing on BPB, has been amazing.  It reminds me that life is made up of everyday moments.  When you put those seemingly small, ordinary moments together, you come up with the bigger picture.  My life is full of those simple moments.  It is up to me to see them, recognize them, and make the most of them.   I love reading about others and learning to see things in a different way.  I love being reminded that there is more to life than this moment that I am in right now.  It helps me so much to know that there are those who have been through the same heartaches, joys, trials, successes, sad, happy and just plain wonderful, ordinary, crazy, laughing moments.

Happy Birthday, BPB, you bring tears to my eyes, a smile to my lips, and joy in my heart.  You remind me, everyday, of what the bigger picture really is.

So, happy, happy birthday!  I can’t wait to see what you do with the year ahead!

Coffee Date: Lucy of Lucy the Valiant

Lucy the Valiant is no stranger to hard work: she teaches English to support her habit of raising beautiful daughters, neither of which are simple feats.  Luckily for us all, she finds it in her heart (and in her schedule) to share the treasure of her writing with the world via brilliant and often hilarious blog posts.  But don’t let the humor fool you — Lucy shares the depth of her love for her husband and two daughters alongside her own deep personal hopes and fears.  Lucy the Valiant is no shrinking violet, but she may just be an exotic bloom, ready to burst into color in our very own backyard.  And we’re so glad she’s chosen to share her vibrancy here today

What Bigger Picture blogs means to Lucy:

“Happy birthday, Bigger Picture Blogs! I’m so glad that you exist! Just knowing that a community like this could germinate and grow and blossom makes me happy. Actually, did you know that the Bigger Picture Blogs community IS a Bigger Picture moment, in itself? I just realized this. It’s like a dream within a dream! See, I associate the Internet with warmth and friendship and beauty. Things like bloggers who focus every week on finding meaning and significance in everyday life! So when I hear about cyber bullying and hate sites and Twitter wars and all the many different kinds of nastiness available online, contributing to the Downfall of Civilization As We Know It, I have to pause for a moment because that is just not what I think of when I think Internet. Simply because I am free to choose the positive aspects only. My search engine will go wherever I tell it to go, won’t it? I have to choose, each day, to access the beautiful and meaningful things online, not the ugly and hateful ones. It’s exactly like that with the rest of our lives, our in-real-life  lives. The options will always be there, it’s really our choices that define how we think of our world. Choices every day to access the beautiful and meaningful things in life, not the ugly and hateful ones. Bigger Picture Blogs is such a choice, and I’m so happy that the founding ladies made it happen!”

What the Bigger Picture Blogs community means to Suzannah:

“the internet is a maze of rabbit holes, and it was through one last summer (the lovely clarity in the chaos) that i first stumbled upon bigger picture blogs.  discovering a community of writers and encouragement was such a blessing, the greatest of which has been meeting hyacynth.  sister can write.  also, she leaves some of the best comments on these here interwebs.

we’ve connected over poetry and Jesus and breastfeeding and parenting tiny ones.  this fall we get to room together at the relevant conference (eek!), and i’m so thankful to meet melissa there, too, and experience part of this community in person.  (i’m ever so sad that lenae had to sell her ticket.  we will meet one day, friend.)

so happy birthday, bigger picture blogs.  thank you all for being a harbor of friendship, compassion, and writerly-goodness.  this world (and web) need more grace-filled spaces like the one you lovingly cultivate here.”
